A complaint was today filed with the Karnataka Lokayukta against JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy, his brother HD Balakrishna and family members for alleged possession of wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income to the tune of Rs167 crore when Kumaraswamy was the chief minister.

Karnataka Lok Ayukta Santosh Hegde said that a Dharwad-based advocate had filed the complaint.

"Yes we have received the complaint. But we have taken the complaint against the two (Kumaraswamy and Balakrishna) and not the other members as they are not public servants."

He said he was also examining whether Kumaraswamy and Balakrishna would come under the purview of public servants under Karnataka Lok Ayukta Act because the former is an MP and Balakrishna, an IAS officer had taken voluntary retirement from government service a few years back.

"We will examine this and also the complaint. If they come under the purview of the Lok Ayukta Act, we will hold the necessary enquiry," Hegde said.

On January 22, a Bangalore-based advocate had filed a complaint before the B Padmaraj Commission of Enquiry, seeking a probe into denotification of lands during the regimes of former chief ministers SM Krishna, HD Deve Gowda, his son Kumarswamy and N Dharam Singh.
