The Kadapa district police of Andhra Pradesh have executed a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Sri Vidyamanohara Teertha Swamy, seer of the Sosale Vyasaraj Mutt in Basavanagudi on Saturday in connection with a cheque bounce case.

Kadapa police said that the district court of Kadapa has summoned the seer many times in the past in connection with the case registered by Sampath Kumar Jain, a resident of that area. He filed a case in the court and his complaint stated that a cheque for Rs19 lakh issued by the seer had bounced.
The court had issued a non-bailable warrant against the swamiji recently after he failed to respond to the summons and warrants.
The court had also directed the Kadapa police to execute the NBW.
The police team of Kadapa One Town police station reached Bangalore late on Friday night and arrested the seer at 6.40 am on Saturday from the mutt. He was taken to Kadapa after his arrest.
The seer has been lodged at Raghavendra Mutt in Rayachoti in Kadapa district.
According to Kadapa police, Sosale Vyasaraj Mutt has its branch in Tirupati Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh. The branch also owned a three-storeyed building in Tirupati. The previous seer of the mutt had given it to Sampath Kumar for lease. It was renewed two times. Meanwhile, Sri Vidyamanohara Teertha Swamy decided to give it to another person for lease. Kumar opposed it as it was purely violation of conditions of the lease agreement. He had paid Rs35 lakh for the lease term, which was not revealed by the police.
The seer has to pay double the lease amount if he wanted to give the mutt property to another person. The seer has agreed to pay the money and given some cheques to Kumar. But one of the cheques worth Rs19 lakh bounced and Kumar filed a case in the district court. Kadapa police superintendent Tarun Joshi said the seer’s lawyers and the complainant are negotiating the payment of the dues. The seer has been lodged at the Raghavendra Mutt in Rayachoti.
