Two days after a 15-storeyed under-construction building, the Prestige Shantiniketan, collapsed at Whitefield here, police said on Saturday that they suspected a construction worker, Munna, 25, from Orissa was missing in the incident.

It was not known whether was trapped under the debris. "As of now we cannot say anything about him," deputy commissioner of police (South-East) Soumendu Mukherjee, said. A police team has been dispatched to Orissa to ascertain whether Munna had returned to his hometown after the collapse.

Meanwhile, two more persons were arrested on Friday in connection with the incident, police said. Those arrested were identified as Ashok Sapru, vice president of Prestige Group and Murlidhar, work manager of the company.

Project engineer Nanda Kishore and vice-president Ravi Hoskote, employees of the Malaysian construction company, IJM, were arrested on Friday.

Four construction workers were injured when part of the building had caved in. At that time the police had said there were no causalities. The fire department had, however, said more than 25 people were caught under the debris. The debris was yet to be cleared.

"The contractor has called in a private firm for clearing the debris under the fire services department's supervision. The operation (to clear the debris) will begin on Sunday morning," said the chief regional officer of fire services department, KU Ramesh.

Meanwhile, a team from Prestige Constructions, the builders, arrived in Bangalore from Chennai. The team was expected to tear down the three pillars of the building to begin search operations. They had started clearing the rubble around the collapsed building.

The pillars, standing precariously, had prevented fire services personnel from launching any search and rescue operations.
