Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has earned another reprieve. The party high command instructed the rebels not to raise the leadership issue till May 4 – the deadline set by special court for the lok ayukta police to complete their investigation.

The BJP high command sent its party in-charge for Karnataka, Dharmendra Pradhan, to Bangalore on Friday evening with a temporary solution for the crisis precipitated by rebels insisting on leadership change in the state.

The rebels’ demand is over donations collected by Prerana Education Trust involving Yeddyurappa’s sons and the special court asking the Lokayukta police to probe the Rachenahalli land scam.

BJP state president KS Eshwarappa-led rebels returned from a two-day visit to Delhi disappointed on failing to convince the BJP national leadership on the need for leadership change.

However the national leadership has assured to take up the leadership issue if the lok ayukta report shows the chief minister in poor light.

The rebels including ministers Jagadish Shettar, Janardhana Reddy and MLA CT Ravi met leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, and party patriarch, LK Advani, on Friday.

The high command has instructed the rebels to sink their differences with Yeddyurappa and stand united to win the by-polls.
Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa is leaving for Delhi on Saturday to meet the party national leaders.

Pradhan is scheduled to hold talks on Saturday with the chief minister and all the MLAs to seek their views and grievances over Yeddyurappa’s leadership on Saturday.

Later in the day, Yeddyurappa is scheduled to meet party national leaders in Delhi.
