BJP national president Nitin Gadkari on Sunday blasted Kerala’s ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) for neglecting safety measures in Sabarimala shrine where 102 died and scores were injured in a stampede on Friday.

Gadkari, who visited the state for the first time on a political tour after taking charge as the BJP’s national president, said the UDF and the LDF were carrying out their communal agenda in the state and had been neglecting vital issues including governance and safety of the people.

He said both the parties were surviving on bashing the majority community which resulted in a total neglect of safety in public places. The stampede at the shrine of Ayyappa was one of them, he said.

The LDF and UDF were carrying out attacks on the BJP on a day-to-day basis in a bid to discourage people from joining the party. But the BJP had surged ahead and in the next polls will demonstrate that the party had made tremendous inroads into Kerala, said Gadkari.
