Bellary official gives info to CBI on forest encroachment for mining

CBI sources said its officials also made enquiries with the forest officer on the alleged illegal mining activity of two firms owned by Janardhan Reddy.

Bellary Deputy Conservator of Forest Devaraj Tuesday provided information to CBI on alleged encroachment of forest land for mining by two firms including the one owned by arrested former Karnataka minister G Janardhan Reddy.

CBI sources said its officials also made enquiries with the forest officer on the alleged illegal mining activity of the two firms.

Devaraj provided details sought by CBI officials at its office in Bangalore, sources said.

Under the Supreme Court directive, CBI is investigating into illegal mining in Karnataka.
