Appearing in the Karnataka high court circuit bench in Dharwad, DGP (CID) DV Guruprasad explained the steps taken by the CID in the case.

Meanwhile,  CID deputy superintendent of police Muddu Mahadevaiah, who is camping in the area, visited Ankola police station seeking for reports filed by the mining and geology and forest departments.

In the reports given to the DySP by the Ankola police, it has been noted that the forest department had confiscated five lakh metric tonnes of grade 65 ore from 11 companies costing Rs150 crore on March 2 in the port. This stockpile was also sealed by the forest department pending Lokayukta investigation.

But when the forest department evaluated the stockpile on June 2, only two lakh tonnes of ore were found at the spot. In the intermittent period, several consignments of ore had been allegedly exported to Pakistan from the port.

According to the inventory recorded on March 2, there were 33 stockpiles of iron ore in the stacking space assigned to Adani Enterprises, 16 with Mallikarjun Shipping Company Limited, four with Salgaoncar Mining Corporation  and two with Rajmahal Silks.

Between March 20 and May 31, these companies had exported five lakh tonnes of iron ore without any legal papers, the Ankola police report stated.
