A day after Sitaram Jindal, chairman, Jindal Aluminium Ltd, who had promised Rs100 crore for the Bangalore School of Economics (BSE), accused Bangalore University (BU) registrar BC Mylarappa about the alleged land scam, Mylarappa, said that the allegation must have been ‘instigated by somebody.’

Mylarappa said that the allegation is wrong and devoid of truth.
Jindal’s statement had further said that the registrar, instead of supporting such a noble cause, is spreading baseless allegations against the vice-chancellor Dr AN Prabhu Dev. “If this is the attitude of the registrar, the foundation will be constrained to take legal action,” it said.

“I don’t know why Jindal has said this. At least, he could have told me over phone or written a letter. In the name of God, I do not know the nomenclature of BSE,” Mylarappa said, adding that he has never met Jindal.

A statement released by him read: “When the file came to me on November 16, 2011, I immediately signed the notification regarding the establishment of the school and also constituted a committee for identifying the land for the proposed school, on the directions of the V-C. I am totally aloof on the proposed establishment of BSE.

Mylarappa said that the university welcomes BSE. Regarding the alleged disagreements between him and the V-C, he said he has never reacted or ‘opened my mouth’ in this regard.

He added that the provocation is increasing each day. “On my part, I just come to the Jnana Bharati campus office everyday and clear all the files. I have never commented about him,” he said.
