The BBMP chief has asked senior officers to take note of the employees who adopt delaying tactics in clearing people’s files to extract bribe from them.

BBMP commissioner MK Shankarlinge Gowda, through a circular dated February 29, has directed all the eight zonal joint commissioners and department heads to maintain a separate register wherein they should note the names of officials who get accused of demanding bribe or delaying clearing of files.

In the circular, Gowda stated that there are complaints that for the past two years, many BBMP officers and employees were indulging in corruption. Lokayukta police received many complaints and cases were registered under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Lokayukta and ADGP have requested the BBMP to curb corruption in the department. Gowda’s circular stated that it showed the rampant corruption in the city corporation.

The BBMP commissioner directed all the zonal, additional and joint commissioners and department heads to call a meeting of their subordinates and direct them to work sincerely. He said the heads should warn their employees to listen to public grievances and get the work done without delay or demanding bribe.
