Bar owner attacked for not serving free liquor in Bangalore

Shashi asked bar employees to serve him liquor, cigarettes and money.

A bar-owner was injured when a ‘customer’ attacked him because he did not comply with the latter’s request of providing liquor for free, in KS Layout police limits on Monday night.

The victim, Srinivas, 36, owns Manjunatha Bar & Restaurant in KS Layout police limits. In the police complaint, he has stated that he was in the bar on Monday night when, about 9.30pm, Shashi, 20, came to the bar and asked the employees to serve him liquor, cigarettes and money.

They brought this demand to the notice of Srinivas, who told the miscreant to pay for the service.

Srinivas and Shashi had a heated argument, which snowballed into a fight. Shashi slashed Srinivas’s legs and hands with a razor.

Meanwhile, the police were alerted about the incident. As Shashi did not relent, the people in the bar caught thrashed Shashi. Later, the police arrested Sashi.

Srinivas underwent treatment at a private hospital and was discharged. He has filed a case of attempt to murder against Shashi with KS Layout police.

A police officer said Shashi is a resident of Kaverinagar and they are trying to find out if cases have been registered against him in other police stations.  The officer said the police are going to cross-check Shashi’s address and other personal details he has provided.
