Bangalore TASMAC won’t be closed

Students enrolled in the Bangalore branch of Training & Advanced Studies in Management and Communications (TASMAC) need not worry over the closure of the institute’s London branch.

Joint managing director of TASMAC India and London, Sameer Dua, said the branch in London had to be closed because of changes in visa regulations.

“Here in Bangalore, since there are local students, there are no visa requirements and hence no cause for worry. We have no reason to close down here in India,” he said.

Campus director Richard Andrew confirmed that all is indeed well: “They are two different entities and the students in Bangalore will not be affected.”

Dua said the University of Wales, which awards the certification, has issued notices to Indian students, saying there is no cause of concern.

The certificate programme has about 100 students enrolled in Bangalore, while the Bangalore University undergraduate programme has about 40 students.

Dua explained that it is not TASMAC alone that had to shut shop in London. He said even an American university that had been operating in the UK for 30 years had to pack up because of new visa norms.

He said the reason behind the closure of most institutes in the UK was new, tough visa regulations.
