A fireman was injured while he was dowsing a fire that broke out in a pub in Nagarjuna Castle building, Wood Street, Ashoknagar, on Saturday. The police said Jagadish, a fireman of the fire and emergency service department, sustained minor injuries.

Jagadish’s leg got stuck while he was in the building and he sustained burn injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital.
The agreement between the pub and building-owner had expired and the pub management had decided to move out. During the shifting process, some employees were removing the false ceiling in the pub when the fire broke out due to a short circuit. The employees found smoke emanating from the building and alerted the fire and emergency personal.

It is estimated that nearly Rs5 lakh worth equipment was gutted in the incident. Nine fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the fire at 2.30 pm. The Ashoknagar police have registered a case of accidental fire incident. They said that apart from the fireman, nobody else sustained injuries.
