With the deadline set by advocates to the state government to accept their demands expiring on Monday, the Advocates’ Association of Bangalore (AAB) had planned to hold a protest march till the HC on Tuesday. However, the police denied permission as the state budget session will begin this week. Prohibitory orders will be clamped in the 1km-radius around Vidhana Soudha.

AAB president KN Subba Reddy said the advocates wanted to go on a protest march from the City Civil Court to Gopal Gowda Circle, near the high court.  He said the AAB would request the chief minister to give them special permission for the rally. He added that the association would invite the home minister to redress their grievances.

One of the demands is that DG&IGP Shankar Bidari must resign or be transferred. As CAT has already ruled that Bidari’s appointment be quashed, Reddy said one of their demands had been met. He added that the AAB would press for its other demands, including the ouster of police commissioner BG Jyothi Prakash Mirji for the alleged atrocities of policemen on March 2.
