An 18-year old student, who had allegedly committed suicide in Venkatapura on Thursday, died while undergoing treatment at St Johns Hospital on Friday.

The deceased Bharath Raj, a student of Government Higher Primary School in Agara, had provided the wrong information to his parents about his class 9 results.

His parents on Thursday went to the school to pay the fee for class 10, but were informed by the teachers that Raj had failed in his class 9 examinations.

On being asked, Raj told his parents that he was afraid to tell the truth. The parents scolded Raj, and later got engrossed in their work.

Raj went to his room and tying a nylon rope to the ceiling fan, hanged himself.  Raj’s father Surendra is an employee with a private firm.

No case was registered as Raj’s parents did not want to register a case or conduct a post-mortem. The body was taken to his house on Friday from the  hospital. The incident happened in the limits of Madivala police station.
