40 men beat up female school secretary for beating student

A group of 40-odd men reportedly stormed into a school at Ramnagar on Saturday and manhandled the school secretary because she allegedly beat up a student.

Reeta Manu, secretary of Bethel International School, has filed a police complaint in this regard. She alleged that men in the group slapped her and dragged her to a police station.

Allegedly, Manu had on Friday roughed up a class IV student, Akash, for playing with a balloon in the class. Reportedly, Akash was beaten with a cane and had bruises all over his body.

His ‘well-wishers’ who stormed to the school to avenge the treatment meted out to him said he was beaten so harshly that he was not even able to sit.

Enraged by this, his family members led a group of 40-odd men to the school and roughed up Manu. The whole incident unfolded in front of mediapersons, including TV news channels.

In her police complaint, Manu has accused the group of beating her, trespassing into the school and creating a ruckus.

She also submitted a video clipping recorded by a news channel that shows the assault on her.

Deputy superintendent of police Ramakrishnaiah said the police would look at the video clipping to identify the persons who assaulted Manu. He said Akash’s family had not yet filed any complaint regarding him being beaten up by Manu.
