The office of Karnataka legislative assembly speaker KG Bopaiah in Vidhana Soudha sprang to life suddenly on Sunday, notwithstanding the fact that it was a holiday. Three BJP MLAs who were elected to the assembly in the recently held by-polls were administered the oath of membership in a hurry amid curious political developments in the day.

With reports of governor HR Bhardwaj trying to put the BJP government on the mat doing the rounds, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa was not ready to waste any time in enabling the new members to attend the legislature session.
As a result, CP Yogeshwar who has been elected from Channapatna, SV Ramachandra from Jagalur and M Narayanaswamy from Bangarpet were administered the oath of assembly membership by Bopaiah at a simple ceremony in his office.

The three newly elected members sought Yeddyurappa’s blessings by touching his feet before taking oath.
Speaking on the occasion, Yeddyurappa expressed the confidence that his government would complete its remaining term of two years and help the state scale new heights in development. “The Congress and JD(S) will be routed in next elections too and BJP will rule the state for 10 more years,” he declared.

The Supreme Court verdict quashing the disqualification of 11 BJP rebels had helped the party to further consolidate its strength both inside and outside the legislature, he added.
