Highest Pre-University Course (PUC) pass figures in past 10 years

59.36% of students who appeared for the exam clear it.

The results for the second year Pre-University Course (PUC) examinations were declared on Monday with the overall pass percentage being 59.36, the highest in a decade.
The results will be officially announced at the respective colleges about 10.30am on Tuesday. The results of colleges where polling booths were set up for the May 5 assembly elections will be put up at the closest neighbouring college.

Over 6,11,569 students appeared for the examinations, of which 3,63,057 passed.

The overall pass percentage was 57.03% 2012; 48.93% in 2011; 49.27% in 2010; 43.07% in 2009; 41.31% in 2008; 50.70% in 2007; 53.97% in 2006; 52.77% in 2005; 48.99% in 2004; and 45.19% in 2003.

Akshay Kamat from Canara College, South Canara topped the examination this year. He secured 594 out of 600 marks in the science stream. In the commerce stream, two students shared the top slot. Aishwarya AN from Bangalore North and Suraj Hegde from Alvas PU college Mudubidre, South Canara, secured 593 out of 600.

Meanwhile, Pradeep Garebala from Bagalkot district secured 574 on 600 marks in the arts stream.

Although there is not much difference in the district-wise performance, Udupi district, which was in the second place last year, placed first with 92.72% pass percentage this year and Dakshina Kannada district, which was first in 2012, slipped to the second position with 91.76%. The third place went to Uttara Kannada district with 82.97%.

However, Yadgir district maintained the last place this year too with 46.02% and Bijapur placed second last with 51.54%. Bangalore South and Bangalore North districts have retained the same spots of 9th and 10th with 74.84% and 74.63%, respectively.

Bangalore Rural’s performance at the examinations improved this year by securing the 11th place with 73.11% pass percentage. It was at the 14th place in 2012.

The supplementary examinations will be held from July 3, 2013 to July 12, 2013 and students wishing to take ti up must pay the prescribed fees at their respective colleges before May 18. The fee per subject is Rs84 and for more than three subjects it is Rs 252.

“We will announce the results of the supplementary examinations on July 20 to give student the opportunity to participate in the CET counselling if they are eligible,” said Chakravarthy Mohan, director for PUE department.

Those who wish to apply for revaluation must apply for the same before May 20, 2013, by paying a fees of Rs1,050 per answer script. For re-totaling, the fee is Rs280 per answer script. Also, May 13 is the last date to get a photocopy of the answer script by paying Rs420 per answer sheet.

The applications for revaluation and re-totaling will be available at all Bangalore One and Karnataka One centres across the state.

Districts that do not have Karnataka One centres can download the applications from the PUE department website or from the concerned colleges.

The filled-in applications can be sent to the deputy director (examinations), PUE department, 18th cross, Malleswaram, Bangalore-12 through speed post or courier.
