On the eve of the 67th Independence Day of India, Bangalore has been put on high alert, with heavy security deployment at Vidhana Soudha, high court, and Bengaluru International Airport, apart from all the bus terminals and railway stations.

Additional commissioner of police, MN Reddy, said armed guards would be deputed in large numbers around dams in the state. He said measures have been taken to ensure that law and order in maintained at sensitive and hyper-sensitive areas in the city. CCTV cameras will be installed at selected places, he said.

The move has come in the wake of central agencies cautioning state about a possible terror strike in Karnataka, though no specific information has been given, Reddy said.

About 1,200 police men, including two additional police commissioners, three joint police commissioners, and nine DCPs, will be deputed in and around Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground, where chief minister Siddaramaiah will hoist the national flag, said additional commissioner Kamal Pant.

Of the 25 entries to the ground, general public will be allowed entry from gate number 4. The police have specified that people visiting the ground should carry an identity card along with their pass, and that crackers, water bottles, mobile phones with cameras and electronic goods will not be allowed.
