Bangalore couple call off marriage due to a dispute over biryani

In Bangalore, a marriage was called off after the bride and groom's families had a quarrel over the food. The groom's family allegedly demanded that they be served only mutton biryani at the reception, but when they were served chickem biriyani by the bride's family, it led to a dissolution of the marriage, reports The Hindu and The Asian Age.

The wedding, which was supposed to be held at a mosque in KG Halli, between Saifulla and Yasmin Taj was canceled despite an attempt at reconciliation by elderly members of both families, the reports said. 

Taj's family had prepared 30 kilos of chicken biryani and after the feud, the bride's family cited that if the such a small adjustment couldn't be made on from the groom's side, then they fear for the wellbeing of their daughter.

The KG Halli police was quoted in the report as saying that they did not want to lodge a police complaint as it would antagonise both sides and close all doors for negotiations.
