The Karnataka High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Somasekhar Gowda alias Somegowda in the Skyye lounge bar case that happened early this month.

When the plea came up for hearing on Friday, the bench observed that there are many cases in his name in four to five police stations. He has been absconding since the alleged incident. On account of this, anticipatory bail cannot be granted and Justice R B Budhihal rejected the plea.

Viajayanand Kashappanavar (42) MLA from Hungund constituency and his two associates including Somegowda allegedly attacked two police constables on July 3. Just after the incident, the MLA denied his involvement in the incident while Somegowda has been absconding since then.

The counsel for Somegowda said that the matter is politically motivated and he should be granted bail. But the judge upheld the order of trial court saying that he is accused in various cases in different police stations and also has a criminal background.
