1061 booked for drink and driving

The city traffic police conducted a special drive against drink and driving on Saturday night and booked 1061 drivers for the offense across the city.

In the special drive conducted from 9 pm to 2 am at 114 places, drivers of 14,506 vehicles were checked and out of them 1061 people were found driving under the influence of alcohol beyond permissible limits.

This included four bus, 19 lorry drivers, 39 auto rickshaw drivers, 230 car drivers, 735 two wheelers, 15 maxi cab and 19 tempo drivers. The highest number of cases (63) were booked in Indiranagar traffic police station limits.
