The Gandhinagar police on Wednesday arrested three main accused in the LRD paper leak case. As per the police, the three accused included two who broke into the printing press and stole the paper, while the other was the one who sold the paper for Rs 50 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Vinay Arora, a resident of Haryana, while the other two were identified as Mahadev Asture and Vinod Rathod, both residents of Karnataka.

The investigation revealed that Vinay Arora somehow got the information that the question paper of Gujarat LRD exams was going to be printed at the Manipal Printing Press located in Karnataka. In order to steal the question paper from the printing press, Arora assigned two men – Asture and Rathod. In November, the two reached Karnataka and started staying at a guest house located near the printing press and started scouting the spot.

On the night of November 20, Asture and Rathod broke into the printing press through its roof. After they got inside, they took photos of the paper and also took one of the papers. Before leaving the spot, the two covered up the roof to conceal their tracks.

After stealing the paper, they returned to Delhi and handed over the paper to Arora who paid them Rs 30,000 each. Later, Arora contacted Virendra Mathur and sold the paper to him for Rs 50 lakh. After that, Mathur contacted people from Gujarat and Delhi.

All three accused were arrested by Gujarat police from Delhi and Karnataka and further investigation is on. It was also revealed that one more accused, identified as Vinod, a resident of Delhi is wanted in the matter. The investigation revealed that Vinod has police family background and had been earlier dismissed from the Delhi Police department after officials found out that his documents were forged. After the incident, Vinod joined the paper leak business and started dealing with Arora and others. The search for Vinod is on.

So far, 46 people, including those who leaked the papers from Delhi and Gujarat, and the students who paid to get the papers have been arrested in the case.
