A sanitation worker died at the south zone office while he was on duty. Chanting of Ramdhun erupted at the main office of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation after the body was brought there.

Bharat Purabiya was working at the Lambha ward of South zone where he suddenly got a heart attack. He was rushed to a hospital, where the doctors pronounced him dead. His dead body was taken to the main office of AMC where people started chanting Ramdhun and some of the leaders of the union also met municipal commissioner Mukesh Kumar.

Different unions of the sanitation workers gathered and demanded job and compensation for Purabiya’s family.

“We will not move from here until we get a written assurance from the authority about the job to the family members of the deceased,” said one of the union members.

According to the deputy municipal commissioner Mukesh Gadhvi, “They have demanded a job for the victim’s family member. But that deceased is not daily wager and not a regular employer. If some regular employer died, we accommodate some of the family members for the job.” “In this case also, we have assured them to find out something whatever is possible,” added Gadhvi.
