A technician, who has been working with the National Institute of Design - Ahmedabad for decades, will release his first book on leather products during the institute's 38th convocation to be held on Wednesday. The premier institute will release 'DIY' (Do It yourself) written by P Rameshkumar.

Professor Tanishka Kachru, head of Print & Publications department, NID, said: "Rameshkumar has worked with NID for decades. He began the work of documenting three years ago, only after students and members of facaulty pushed him to do so."

The work is a pictorial representation of the process of how to make leather products and used for people trying to create new things with leather. Rameshkumar works with Lifestye and Accessories Design (LAD) at NID.

"The instruction manual demonstrates the techniques of making simple leather accessories. The manual is devoid of any kind of complexity, be it in terms of language or technical explanations," Tanishka said.

Among some of the books that NISD plans to release on Wednesday are a Hindi translation of 'Leading Lights on Design', a book written by late NID faculty H Kumar Vyas, and another book comprising convocation speeches given by chief guests at the institute since 1979. The book will have 37 speeches.
