Trucks carrying relief material to Kerala being flagged off by GCCI

Government and public organizations have lined up the supply of relief materials for flood-hit Kerala. State revenue minister Kaushik Patel will visit Kerala on Saturday. Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and other organizations have also started sending goods for relief operations.

GCCI, on Friday, flagged off two trucks carrying relief materials like blankets, medicines and food kits. Along with other business bodies in the state, it also amassed cash worth Rs 21 lakh, which will be donated to Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund. Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel and special commissioner for SGST Ajaykumar were also present on the occasion. Patel is visiting Kerala on Saturday and will hand over the cheque of Rs 10 crore on behalf Gujarat government to Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund.

At a meeting with various business associations in Ahmedabad on Friday, GCCI president Jaimin Vasa appealed to all business associations to lend a helping to flood-hit Kerala. "Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel will take the ground report and based on his feedback, we will continue with the relief measures. We are also coordinating with the chamber of commerce in Kerala. They will give us a report on their requirements within two days and we will respond accordingly," said Vasa.

Western Railway also flagged off a train, on Friday, carrying 27 tonnes of relief material to Kerala.
