Of the 252 schools which had approached the FRC with proposals, nearly 200 schools have received their orders
The zonal Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) of Ahm-edabad has declared provisional fees of nearly 200 schools, much to the dissent of various parents associations in the city, on Thursday. Most of the schools which received orders displayed the provisional fees outside their school building.
Of the 252 schools which had approached the FRC with proposals, nearly 200 schools have received their orders. Sources at the FRC zonal office confirmed that 80% of the schools that approached the FRC have received orders of provisional fees declaration. A source said, "We are following instructions laid down by the Supreme Court and have declared fees of nearly 80% schools."
"I had gone to the office of FRC to get details. But, they refused to give me details. Many schools like IDP school in Ghatlodia, Apollo International School near Gota have put the fees declared by the FRC Ahmedabad zone on a display board and it is way beyond the prescribed one in the Act. The government has cheated on us. This way, the fees of the schools have increased and schools are allowed to charge more fe-es," Pooja Prajapati, President, Parents Ekta Manch said.
"Apollo International Sch-ool put a notice saying Rs 38000 for Grade 1 to 5 and Rs 40000 for Grade 6-8. The notice stated 'The FRC has declared the fees for our school, for any further query meet the principal'", added Prajapati.
The Supreme court on Monday deferred the final hearing date off Gujarat Self-Fina-nced Schools (Regulation of Fees) Act from April 4 to 18.
Before ten days, the court had preponed the final hearing by a month. The final hearing which was kept for May 3 was later scheduled for April 4. This was after the lawyer appearing on behalf of All Gujarat Parents Association urged the bench to close the matter before vacation starts.
