Reacting to Javed Akhtar’s dig about being a ‘hardly literate player’ wrester Yogeshwar Dutt said: “You’ve written poems and stories. I’ve also done some small things, like making history for India on an international stage.” Yogeshwar Dutt won the bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics and Gold Medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2013.

This led veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar to hit out at cricketer Virender Sehwag and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt.  "If a hardly literate player or a wrestler troll a pacifist daughter of a martyr it's understandable but what's wrong with some educated folks," Akhtar tweeted. Kaur, 20, the daughter of army martyr Captain Mandeep Singh and a student of Lady Sri Ram College, had started the campaign following the violence at Ramjas College. It received massive support from students across various universities.

Dutt took to Twitter comparing the Delhi University student Kaur with Adolf Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, and a Black Buck of Salman Khan’s Black Buck case. Earlier, Mos Home Rijiju had taken to Twitter to criticise Kaur. "Who's polluting this young girl's mind? Strong armed forces prevent a war. India never attacked anyone but a weak India was always invaded," the minister of state for home had said. Responding to Rijiju's comment, Akhtar tweeted, "Mr minister, you have condemned the left by falsely accusing them for celebrating soldiers killing n not a word about AVBP. Grossly biased."

"I don't (know) about her but Mr Minister I know who is polluting your mind," the 71-year-old lyricist added. Kaur withdrew from her social media campaign after allegedly receiving threats from the members of the RSS-backed outfit.

Gurmehar Kaur, daughter of Kargil martyr Captain Mandeep Singh who alleged rape threats over her social media campaign along with some students staged a protest march against Delhi University campus violence.

In a series of tweets, the 20-year-old also appealed to others to join the "Save DU" march at the Delhi University campus by students and teachers in huge numbers. Kaur was given police protection yesterday after she was trolled with tweets threatening rape over her Facebook post against Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Violation erupted last week after the ABVP students allegedly manhandled and thrashed students protesting the cancellation of an event at Ramjas College at which controversial JNU student Umar Khalid was scheduled to speak.
