India's denial of visa to Pervez Musharraf is unfortunate: Aide

India's refusal to grant a visa to General Pervez Musharraf is an unfortunate move, a close aide of Pakistan's former military strongman said today.

"It's unfortunate that the Indian government feels so upset or under-confident that they have denied him (Musharraf) a visa," said Rasheed Qureshi, a retired military General and spokesperson of Musharraf's All Pakistan Muslim League party.

Earlier, India denied Musharraf a visa after the home ministry expressed reservations over his visit due to his recent anti-India statements, sources said in New Delhi.

Besides, the government also did not want convergence of elements opposed to the present regime in Pakistan on Indian soil for their activities.

In recent weeks, Musharraf had accused India of fomenting separatist movement in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province.

Musharraf had been invited India to attend a seminar hosted by the Young Presidents Organisation, an international outfit involving influential business leaders. The conference was scheduled to be held in Delhi on Saturday.

The former president, currently living in self-exile in Britain, was among the guest speakers at the event.
