We are at day four of 'Nobel Week'. Today the 108th Nobel Prize in Literature will be announced by the Swedish Academy.

According to Alfred Nobel's will, the Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded by the Swedish Academy since 1901. Last year the prize was awarded to French novelist Jean Patrick Modiano.

As we wait for this year's announcement, here are a few things you should know about the Nobel Prize in Literature - 

1. Since 1901, 107 Nobel Prizes in Literature have been awarded every year with the exception of 1914, 1918, 1935, 1940, 1941, 1942, and 1943.

2. Rudyard Kipling was the youngest Literature Laureate ever. He received the award at the age of 42. Kipling is best known for The Jungle Book.

3. Doris Lessing was the oldest Literature Laureate ever. She was 88 years old when she was awarded the prize in 2007.

4. So far 13 women have been awarded the prize.

5. 64 is the average age of Nobel Laureates in Literature.
