Ride-hailing app Uber has now launched the river Compliments’ feature in India, which will empower riders to acknowledge and encourage good behaviour on part of their drivers too.

Pradeep Parameswaran, Head of Central Operation at Uber India, mentioned in a company statement, “Last month, we launched community guidelines with the objective of encouraging mutual respect and we are now excited to introduce 'Compliments’. We hope our riders take a moment to express their appreciation by using this feature. It will encourage our driver partners to do even better!”

With the new feature, users will be able to leave a compliment, based on their experience. The driver will then get a notification in the app, taking them to the message and the compliments badge they have collected. This can range from to expert navigation to a great music choice or simply, excellent service.

Uber is also hiring more software engineers for its engineering centers in the country as it looks to roll out more innovations from India in areas such as payments, bookings, and rider and driver experience. At the moment, Uber has two engineering centers in India - Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The teams work in areas like safety, payments, driver growth, maps, vehicle telematics and rider experience, among others. It currently has about 100 people in these two centers.
