Here are live updates from Day 8 of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

On the Day 8 of Commonwealth Games 2018 at Gold Coast in Australia, India added silverware to make the total of 31 medals.
Double-Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar (74kg) and event debutant Rahul Aware (57kg) provided the golden touch as India snared an impressive four medals on the opening day of the 21st Commonwealth Games' wrestling competition.
Defending champion Sushil barely spent any time on the mat, his final lasting just a minute and 20 seconds, and claimed easy victories to claim his third successive gold at the Games, a love affair that began in 2010 Delhi edition.
However, another defending champion Babita phogat (53kg) settled for a silver, while debutant Kiran happily flaunted a hard-earned bronze. Kiran defeated Mauritian Katouskia Pariadhaven by fall in the repechage of the 76kg category for her first major medal at the international level.
In the women's discus throw final, veteran Seema Punia and Navjeet Dhillon won silver and bronze respectively.
Shuttlers PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa, Pranaav Chopra and N Sikki Reddy, and Ruthvika Gadde have won their respective matches.
Sutirtha Mukherjee-Pooja Sahasrabudhe and Manika Batra-Mouma Das have won their respective Round of 16 matches in Women's doubles table tennis. Achanta Sharath Kamal-Mouma Das, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran-Manika Batra, and Sanil Shetty-Madhurika Patkar are through to the quarterfinals. Indian contingent is also doing well in singles events.
Dipika Pallikal-Saurav Ghosal, Joshna Chinappa-Harinder Pal Singh have won their squash mixed doubles matches. Earlier in the day, Vikram Malhotra-Ramit Tandon continued their winning streak in men's doubles.
Table Tennis -
Men's Doubles pairs of Harmeet Desai-Sanil Shankar Shetty and Sharath Achanta-Sathiyan Gnanasekarna have moved to through to the quarterfinals
The men seem to have followed the lead of women in India's Table Tennis team. Manika Batra-Mouma Das and Pooja Sahasrabudhe-Sutirtha Mukjherjee have won their respective quarterfinal matches.

Rahul Aware dominated the Canadian in the second and final period. Supporters in the crowd couldn't keep chill!
Aware took the Gold medal home with the score of 15-7.
This is India's first gold medal at Gold Coast 2018. Double-Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar is about to play his bout in Men's 74 kg freestyle final.
Table Tennis -
After a closely contested match, Sharath Achanta of India defeated home favourite Heming Hu of Australia to advance in Men's Singles event. Achanta scored, 11-8, 12-10, 8-11, 11-6, 11-5.
Achanta now joins Harmeet Desai, who won against Mayalsia's Leong, in quarterfinals.
Table Tennis -
Mouma Das of India fought tooth and nail to snatch victory in Women's Singles Round of 16 match against England's Tin-Tin Ho.
After winning 3 games apiece, Ho and Das gave their all in the decider game. But Das persisted and won it 11-7, 7-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-13, 11-7, 11-7.
Manika Batra advanced too after defeating Australia's Tracy Feng 11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7. She will not be joined in the final eight by Madhurika Patkar who lost her match to England's Kelly Sibley.
In Men's Singles, Harmeet Desai looked in complete control of the match against Malaysia's Chee Feng Leong. Indin paddler won the match 11-5, 11-7, 11-5, 7-11, 11-4
Badminton -

Kidambi Srikanth, on the other hand, defeated Niluka Karunaratne of Sri Lanka 21-10, 21-10.

Badminton -
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa beat Canada’s Kristen Tsai and Nyl Yakura in the Round of 16. A straight set win for Indians with a score of 21-10, 21-7.
Pranaav Chopra and N Sikki Reddy too won their mixed-doubles match against Singapore 21-19, 21-13 to reach the quarterfinal.
Ruthvika Gadde is currently playing Jia Min Yeo of Singapore. She won her first game 21-10 but lost her second one 21-23. The match goes to decider set.

Track and Field -
Arpinder Singh of India has finished on top in his qualifying group for Men' Triple Jump. He recorded 16.39m. None of the athletes could clear the automatic qualification mark of 16.60m
AV Rakesh Babu finished 5th in his group with 15.98m.
In the Women's Heptathalon 100m hurdles, Purnima Hembram of India finished second in her heat. At 13.56 seconds she registered her personal best. Now she will move to high jump.

Rahul Aware reached the final of Men's Freestyle 57kg category after beating Pakistan's Muhammad Bilal 12-8.
He began his campaign with defeating England's George Ramm 11-0 in Men's Freestyle 57 kg 1/8. He also won his QF match of category against Australia's Thomas Cicchini by technical superiority.
Sushil Kumar defeated Canada's Jevon Balfour in Men's Freestyle 74 kg category. In the first period, he won 4 points followed by 7 points in the second period. He is through to the semifinals. He also beat Pakistan's Muhammad Asad Butt in their QF match. He won the bout by technical superiority and is through to the semis.
Kiran has made it into the Women's Freestyle 76kg category after beating Cameroon's Danielle Sino Guemde 11-1
