Defending champions Rizvi Springfield continued their fine form with an amazing batting display against Shri BAK Swadhyay Bhavan (Matunga) in a first round match of the Giles Shield cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

The Bandra outfit was powered by Sarfaraz Khan, who cantered his way to an unbeaten 224 (188b, 35x4, 1x6) even as Armaan Jaffer, also undefeated, (112, 120b, 16x4) played the role of second fiddle to perfection. Rizvi declared at 438-2 and in reply, Swadhyay were 77-2 when stumps were drawn.

Thirteen-year-old Sarfaraz, who entered the record books with a knock of 439 a few months back, was at his destructive best, yet again.

The youngster had amassed 838 runs in six Harris Shield innings and was instrumental in his side retaining the trophy last week. In fact, Sarfaraz had scored a match-winning double ton in the final of the Giles Shield last year.
