Saina Nehwal shuttles on the ramp

She is the new toast of the sports-weds-glamour circuit. Saina Nehwal, who continues her winning streak and steady climb to the top, walked the ramp in her hometown for designer Pallavi Jaipur.

The badminton genius, who is currently ranked world number 3, made a stunning showstopper appearance in a rose pink velvet zardosi bridal lehenga.

Speaking from Hyderabad, Saina says, “It was all so much fun, and yes a good break. I am used to being amongst crowds during matches so that wasn’t  unneverving, but wearing a heavy lehenga and walking the ramp was sure an exciting experience. It made me feel royal and pretty I suppose.”

Pallavi adds that Saina was anxious before hitting the ramp. Her mentor Pulella Gopichand who has always shied away from the glamour and advertising world, is not averse to her doing these off court things.

“He always keeps me away from all this and loves to see me on the court, but he was okay with me doing this,” Saina adds. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar sure has a fan in Saina as her ringtone screams, ‘paisa paisa karti hain, paise pe kyon marti hain’. Hope this isn’t her coach’s advice!
