Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle has said that he is eager to play in the Adelaide Test match against India.
Siddle is the only Australian fast bowler to have played in Australia’s last eight Test matches.
Though he acknowledges that his time to sit out of a Test match might have come due to Australia’s rotation policy for the fast bowlers, Siddle said that it is a matter of pride to represent his country at the international level.
“Any opportunity to play for Australia is a great honor and I definitely don't want to give my spot up to anyone else and let them have the opportunity,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Siddle, as saying on Thursday.
“I want to play (in Adelaide). But we'll have to see what happens in the future - whether it's the one-dayers, in the West Indies, that sort of thing. We'll have the discussions, but my thoughts are definitely to play,” he added.
Australian captain Michael Clarke had earlier said that spinner Nathan Lyon will be inducted in the squad, which would mean that any one of the four pacers who played in the Perth Test would be dropped.
