The Pakistan cricket team management has reportedly stirred a controversy of sorts by suggesting that England fast bowler Stuart Broad's petulant throw at wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider during the second Test at Edgbaston could have caused a fracture of his finger that threatens to keep him out of the third Test at The Oval, which starts on Wednesday.
The match referee has already fined Broad for the incident, but the Pakistanis have kept the issue simmering.
An X-ray has confirmed a hairline fracture to the little finger on Haider's right hand.
Asked whether Broad's throw had played a part, The Telegraph quoted team manager Yawar Saeed, as saying: "Yes."
He also confirmed that Haider would see a specialist in London either today or tomorrow.
