The top management of GMR Group, which owns Delhi Daredevils, is writing to the governing council of the Indian Premier League (IPL) about the high-handed behaviour of IPL COO Sundar Raman after he was involved in a fracas with GMR official Sunil Valson.

Sundar Raman revoked the accreditation issued to Valson over a trivial issue of parking and reportedly also abused the former cricketer. The IPL COO had trouble getting close to the stadium on the eve of the Delhi Daredevils’ match against Mumbai Indians, as the police had sanitized the area and did not let his vehicle go beyond a point.
Raman then demanded a vehicle pass from Valson, which the latter could not provide immediately as he wasn’t authorized to issue.
According to witnesses, Raman started shouting at Valson and attempted to snatch his accreditation card off the neck, saying he did not deserve it. Other officials at the GMR office prevented him from doing so, after which the CEO got further agitated and threatened to get the accreditation cancelled.
Valson could not be at the venue for his team’s first two matches, but the GMR officials plan to not only write to the IPL but also take up the matter at the next governing body meeting. “It was a very bad scene and something that could have been avoided,” said a DDCA official who did not want to be named.
