No question of resigning, says Pak team manager Yawar Saeed

Rubbishing reports that he had stepped down as Pakistan team manager due to constant pressures resulting from the spot-fixing allegations against the team, Yawar Saeed today said "people would laugh if I resigned with just one match to go on the tour".

"I'm not an employee of the board and nor do I have a long-term contract with it, so there is no question of resigning," Saeed said from London.

"I will discuss my future plans with Ijaz Butt. I'm made manager on series to series basis so I do want to discuss my future with him. But there is no question of me backing out at this time," he reiterated.

"It is a great honour to be managing the Pakistan team and I accept these things as part of my responsibility and job. I don't take pressure and neither am I physically or mentally tired," Saeed said

Declining to comment on the tense relations between the Pakistan and English cricket boards, Saeed said, "I don’t want to speak on this issue while the tour is on, as there would be no difference between us and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), if I do so."

"I will give a detailed reply after the tour," he said.

Earlier there were reports that the Pakistan manager quit his job after tension built up between the two cricket boards in the last few days over the match-fixing allegations.

Tabloid Daily Mail had claimed that Saeed's resignation followed a fight between Jonathan Trott and Wahab Riaz at Lord's.
