Australian spinner Nathan Lyon is set to regain his Test berth after receiving skipper Michael Clarke’s backing ahead of the Adelaide Test against India.

Australia's four-pronged pace attack had led to the team winning by an innings and 37 runs at Perth, but Clarke said he is keen to have Lyon back in the squad as the Adelaide Oval pitch is expected to help spinners.

"I think Nathan Lyon will certainly come back into the team given conditions in Adelaide are generally flatter and spin a lot more than what we've seen here in Perth. But I need to assess those when I get there," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Clarke, as saying.

Left-arm paceman Mitchell Starc is expected to be axed for the fourth Test.

Clarke said Australia's win in Perth, which was achieved in less than two-and-a-half days, plus an early finish in the Sydney Test implies that the side is fresh to take on India in Adelaide Test.

Clarke also vowed that his team would continue its stranglehold on India in the fourth Test aiming for a 4-0 series whitewash.

“We haven't achieved much at this stage. We should be very proud, don't get me wrong, to beat the No.2 ranked Test team in this series. But we've got a lot of work to do before we'll be satisfied. In Adelaide, you'll see that," Clarke said.
