Lack of star players in the Rest of India (RoI) squad for the Irani Trophy will not make the task any easier for Mumbai, says coach Praveen Amre.

“This is the beginning of a new season. Players in both the squads would be rusty. They will take time to get into rhythm. The pitches would also have moisture as the monsoon is just ending,” said Amre.

Most of the star players will be busy doing national duty during the home series against Australia, when the Irani Trophy tie takes place in Jaipur from October 1-5.

Amre, on Saturday, announced the launch of the Cricket Development Programme, in EuroSchool, Airoli.

The programme, affiliated to Cricket Australia, is facilitated with the support of Cricket India Academy and the cricket division of Sports Education Development India Ltd. Amre also asserted that domestic cricket in the country is corruption free, referring to the spot fixing controversy surrounding Pakistan cricketers.
