Australian skipper Michael Clarke has backed his team to take on India ahead of the second Test in Sydney

“I want us to be ruthless, to continue the same strength and aggression with ball and bat we showed at the MCG,” telegraph.com.au quoted Clarke, as saying.

“But we have to be smart about the way we attack them in Sydney and play according to the conditions and circumstances on offer,” he added.

Clarke said Australia’s pace bowling attack would be crucial to lay the roadmap for victory, and lauded the pacemen trio-  James Pattinson Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus for dominating the Melbourne Test.

He pointed out that Australia has won two out of three matches on the spinner- friendly pitches, and expressed hope that sunny weather would make the pitch firm and consistent which would make for another good Test match.

He called on the cricket fans to appreciate the contribution of two Australian veteran batsmen- Mike Hussey and Ricky Ponting.
