Brief news ahead of this weekend's Serie A fixtures

* Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho told a news conference the chances of him leaving to join faltering Liverpool were "impossible" following speculation about the future of their under-pressure boss Rafael Benitez. The champions and leaders have left injury victims Diego Milito, Thiago Motta, Esteban Cambiasso and Walter Samuel out of their squad for Saturday's home game with Catania. Samuel Eto'o is included after further recovering from a foot problem, as is fellow striker Mario Balotelli, despite Mourinho criticising his work in training and blaming "people who surround young players of this generation".

*AC Milan midfielder and captain Massimo Ambrosini is suspended for Sunday's trip to Chievo (1945) when the Rossoneri will be looking to build on two wins following a difficult start to the season. Alexandre Pato is likely to keep his place after grabbing the winning goals in last weekend's 2-1 win over AS Roma and the 3-2 triumph at Real Madrid on Wednesday, which Mourinho labelled "as historic as their previous home defeat to Zurich".

Fellow striker Marco Borriello, who came off the bench at the Bernabeu after two months out, is also pushing for a start while error-prone goalkeeper Dida is probably safe as fellow keepers Marco Storari and Christian Abbiati are injured.</p>

* Defender Jonathan Zebina and midfielder Felipe Melo are struggling to be fit for Juventus at Siena on Sunday (1400) after coming off injured in Wednesday's 1-0 Champions League win over Maccabi Haifa. Coach Ciro Ferrara could again go with one striker after the formation led to their first win in six games.

* Second-placed Sampdoria have midfielder Marco Padalino suspended for Saturday's visit (1600) of struggling Bologna, who will be under new coach Franco Colomba for the first time. Samp striker Giampaolo Pazzini is a doubt after breaking his nose in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Lazio.

* Napoli goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis has a hamstring problem and could miss Sunday's trip to in-form Fiorentina.

* Serse Cosmi will take charge of bottom side Livorno for the first time in Sunday's game at AS Roma (1400), who are again likely to be without Francesco Totti because of knee trouble.
