Spanish professional golfer Sergio Garcia made his football debut for hometown club CF Borriol, playing the final eight minutes of its 1-0 loss to Ribarroja in the Spanish Third Division.

The former World No. 2 golfer also happens to be the club’s President.

“Sergio looked on the hefty side, but has talent. However, he only got his chance because he’s club president,” the Sun quoted a source, as saying.

It is believed that Garcia has been training regularly with the team this season and has been using football as a way to improve his fitness for golf.

The 30-year-old has not won an event in two years and has dropped out of the top 50.

Garcia also hopes that the coach would give him more games during his two-month break from golf.
