Fabio Capello’s England future unclear as Inter Milan rumours mount

England manager Fabio Capello’s future with the team has been thrown into doubt by his refusal to kill off the suggestion that he will join Inter Milan after the World Cup.

“There has been not one contact with me. At the moment nobody has talked to me,” The Telegraph quoted Capello, as saying.

Capello, who is contracted to the Football Association (FA) until the end of Euro 2012, however admitted that at the moment his focus is on the World Cup.

“I am happy here. I think at this moment it is not a priority for me the priority is to be focused on the World Cup. I would like to stay here, I like this job,” he added.

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is understood to have identified Capello as his “ideal candidate” and first choice to replace Jose Mourinho.

According to reports, Moratti would be willing to treble his six-million-pound annual salary, after tax, in order to bring the former Milan, Roma and Juventus manager back to Italy.

Mourinho, who led Inter to an unprecedented treble of Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League, is under contract with the club until June 2012, but has decided to join Real Madrid to fulfill his dream of becoming the only coach to win the Champions League with three different clubs.
