Former England football skipper David Beckham is looking forward to taking on former club Manchester United at San Siro this evening, and hopes to defeat the latter in the Champions League clash.

AC Milan may have had some of the finest performers ever seen on a football field but none, surely, could have been paid the sort of glowing testimony that Milan's Brazilian coach Leonardo gave David Beckham yesterday.

Sitting alongside the former England skipper in a basement under the club's famous Milanello training ground, The Sun quoted Leonardo, as saying: "David's appearance here today on the eve of this historic match between Milan and Manchester United is very important for this club.

"I asked him to come and I'm delighted he has because he is part of Milan's philosophy. Through his experience and charisma and the way he helps all the other players here, he could not represent the club better. Not only is he a very smart and polite guy but an incredible player. David has done everything in football - both on and off the field. He is a complete person," he added.

Beckham said: "I have never blamed him for me leaving the club. In 2003, it was my time to move on. And there's certainly no score to settle. He was always a father figure to me - always has and always will.”
