Management guru and economist Arindam Chaudhuri of the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) and his Planman Group became the Delhi franchise owners for the all new motorsport racing league i1 Super Series, an initiative by Machdar Motorsports.
The Delhi franchise is the second team to be confirmed after actor Shah Rukh Khan was named as the Mumbai franchisee holder. Chaudhuri is the founder of the Planman Group, which has business interests in consulting, media and entertainment. He is now entering sports.
The highly anticipated i1 Super Series, charted on the popular city-based franchisee format, will have nine teams representing different cities from across the country and each team will have an Indian and an International driver per car.
Chaudhuri said he is highly impressed by the concept and was keen to be a part of it from the beginning. “We are delighted to be the Delhi Franchisee holder and excited to be part of the i1 Super Series. The concept looks innovative and intriguing and we have been keen to be a part of this concept ever since its inception. We are always looking for ways to reach out to new audiences and the i1 Super Series is the right platform to help us do so,” he added.
“I have always been an automobile enthusiast and our company Planman Stars has already been in sports for more than two years. This is a perfect vehicle for it to strengthen its foothold in sports. After the success of the inaugural Indian GP, motorsports is definitely enjoying a high in the country and will only continue to grow,” said Chaudhari. Announcing the partnership, director of Machdar Motorsports Anjana Reddy said, “Planman and Arindam is a fantastic addition to the i1 Super Series and we are delighted to welcome them to the championship.”
