Pakistan legendary bowler Wasim Akram has backed Australian bowler Mitchell Starc, describing him a player who has the 'ability to make a difference' at the upcoming World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Reflecting on Starc's talent, Akram said that he had the pace and swing, adding that he was 'bowling very intelligently' especially with the new ball, the Dawn reported. The 1992 World Cup winner also believes that Mitchell Starc and Johnson would make a lethal combination during the ICC's pinnacle tournament.

According to Akram, Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Johnson was one of the top bowlers in the world but having two of them in the same team was a 'plus and unbelievable', the report added. The former Pakistan pace bowler added that they'll be 'impossible to play' with their pace on those wickets.

In his 32 ODI match appearances, Starc has surpassed the record of Brett Lee by claiming 61 wickets at an average of 20.62.
