Indian spinner Amit Mishra was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman friend inside a Bengaluru hotel.

NDTV reports that Mishra was interrogated by the police for 3 hours before being released on bail.

Last Wednesday, Mishra was charged with verbally and physically assaulting the woman.

The reported incident allegedly took place in a hotel on September 25. The woman filed the case on September 27. The Bengaluru police had asked Mishra to appear before it within a week. Mishra responded to the summons on Tuesday, following which the interrogation happened.

On Friday, the woman who had filed a police complaint against him for an alleged assault, had decided to withdraw the case.

"Two days after lodging the complaint, I approached the police station and told them that I have in principle decided to withdraw the case," the complainant said. "I am waiting for Mishra to appear in the police station. We both will amicably withdraw the case. We were friends. We fought, and continue to remain friends here after," she said.
