Reigning Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton equalled legendary racer Ayrton Senna's tally of 41 victories by grabbing the Japanese Grand Prix. Let's trace the path of the colourful Brit since he pressed the throttle at the Australian Grand Prix in 2007

    2007

Impressed all and sundry, finishing second in the drivers' standing in his maiden F1 season as a McLaren driver. Won the Canadian, US, Hungarian, and Japanese Grand  Prix while finishing on the podium on 12 occasions.

    2008

Claimed his first drivers' championship by bagging 98 points winning the Australian, Monaco, British, German, and Chinese Grand Prix.

    2009

Had a disappointing season finishing fifth with just 49 points and only five podium appearances out of which he came first at Hungary and Singapore.

    2010

Bagged 240 points but could only end fourth with victories at Turkish, Canadian, and Belgian Grand Prix.

    2011

Three retirements in 19 races hurt his chances but he still scored 227 points to end the campaign in fifth place. Won the Chinese, German, and Abu Dhabi races.

    2012

Ended in the fourth place with 190 points but managed to win the Canadian, Hungarian, Italian, and US Grand Prix.

    2013

Changed over to Mercedes but the bad run of form continued as the Brit, once again, finished out of the top three in the fourth place with 189 points and just one at top of the podium at Hungary.

    2014

Fortunes changed big time as he dominated from the start to claim his second drivers' championship with 384 points. Finished first at Malaysia, Bahrain, China, Spain, Great Britain, Italy, Singapore, Japan, Russia, US, and Abu Dhabi.

    2015

Has all but confirmed the current season's championship with five races still to go. 277 points are in his tally with victories at Australia, China, Bahrain, Canada, Great Britain, Belgium, Italy, and Japan.
