The estimated figure for the fraud committed by scamster Ashok Jadeja has touched Rs1,000 crore, of which Rs450-Rs500 crore comes from Ahmedabad alone, said a source in the CID (Crime). The remaining amount is believed to have been procured from victims in other states, including Delhi, Haryana and Punjab.

The police are investigating the case, and are trying to get links to all the places where Jadeja could have invested the money. “The police have identified two more flats purchased by Jadeja in the city. We have also sealed a cottage and foiled property dealings in Kadi area,” investigating officer RK Patel told DNA.

The police alsohave seized a notebook from one of his agents Sutaram alias Bhutta Chhara. “Bhutta had purchase jewellery worth Rs1 crore from Zanzar Jewellers in the city,” said Patel. “We have recovered 117 bills of this shop, and have found a note book,” he added saying that the police is also probing the property of Hakam Chhara and Babu Gulab, who are alleged to be the main agents of Jadeja.

The land bought by Jadeja in Telav, Kolat, Kediavasna and Changodar villages have also been sealed. “Transaction of a land of about 200-250 bigha was to be done in Agod village in Kadi. The police are investigating the transaction to see if it is one of Jadeja’s dealings.” So far, the police have received 1,500 applications attached with four complaints lodged at the Sarkhej police station. “Most of the complaints are from the Chharas of Ahmedabad and the Sansis of Rajasthan,” said a source in the police.
In addition to this, the police are probing the Manbai Rathod and Manish Rathod link to Jadeja. “We have spotted them in almost all the video CDs we recovered as evidence against Jadeja,” said Patel.
