The Congress corporators walked out of the standing committee meeting on Thursday to protest the ‘biased’ approach of the administration.

They alleged that the AMC authorities were paying no heed to the basic amenity requirements of common people.

Hasan Khan Pathan, the Congress corporator from Dariapur, alleged that the AMC officials were according priority to the works approved by the ward committees at the cost of the citizens’ basic needs. “It seems the AMC administration is working for the ruling party in corporation and not for the common people,” he said.

The Congress corporators also raised the issue of poor quality of chemical supplied to Shardaben Hospital in Saraspur. The chemical required for conducting x-ray is of poor quality, and the pictures, as a result, are not clear enough to help the doctors reach a conclusion, alleged Naran Patel, a Congress corporator from Juna Wadaj.

“The authorities at Shardaben Hospital have admitted that the low standard of chemical affects the quality of x-ray which may turn dangerous for patients,” he said. As a result, patients have to use services of private doctors which are costly for them, Patel said, adding, “It is surprising to know that the deputy municipal commissioner of hospital department did not even have an idea about the issue,” he said.

Congress corporators further alleged that the chairman of standing committee does not provide information on issues raised during the zero hour. “He only promises investigation in the matter. But, he has never put the details on table in the next committee meeting,” the Congress corporators said.
